Come Visit the Dayton Community!

The Dayton Valley is a growing rural community that sprouted from a rich history during the Comstock mining era when the first documented gold found in Nevada was plucked from Gold Canyon Creek in the spring of 1849 in the heart of what is know today as Old Town Dayton.

Nestled in a fertile valley and flanked by the Pine Nut Mountains and the Flowery Range, Dayton maintains much of its rural charm despite more than a decade of rapid growth and notoriety as one of the fastest growing communities in Nevada. A short drive from Carson City and less than 40 miles from Reno, Dayton has become a bedroom community to many residents who enjoy living a rural lifestyle while working in the state's capital or metropolitan Reno.

Today, the community has grown beyond its historical district to include residential neighborhoods and retail development along either side of U.S. 50.  The community boasts an Arnold Palmer designed golf club, an airstrip and an industrial park.

With the Carson River flowing through the center of the community, there are a number of recreational opportunities including canoeing, rafting, fishing, hunting and wildlife viewing along with swimming and boating at Lahontan Reservoir, which is filled with water from the river.

Dayton Draws residents looking for a quieter, slower pace of life in close proximity to an international airport, the Sierra Nevada and its ski resorts, Reno and Lake Tahoe.
